CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Jyushimatsu Matsuno
Age: early twenties. the actual age is never specified.
Canon: Osomatsu-san
Canon Point: post ep 25 (end of season one)
Character Information: The whole premise of Osomatsu-san is that it is based off a fairly popular manga/anime that came out in the 1960s. Osomatsu-kun was a story about sextuplets that misbehaved and caused all sorts of trouble, usually at Iyami's and Chibita's expense. In that series, they all looked the same and it was nearly impossible to tell them apart. By the time Osomatsu-san starts, the six brothers have grown to adults in their twenties, with individual personalities and their own variations on their clothes and hair.

As a child, Jyushimatsu was loud, and he liked to sing. He was also kind to a fault, easily manipulated. As an adult, he is still the loudest brother, and he's still kind, and still closest to Ichimatsu. Like his brothers, he lives at home and does not have a job or a girlfriend. He has probably aged the least, when it comes to maturity, and he has been known to gamble and drink irresponsibly, like the rest of them.

Unlike the rest of them (except for maybe Todomatsu), Jyushimatsu has been the closest to getting an actual girlfriend, in an episode that showed he could be serious, at least for a little while. He held a manual labor job briefly in episode 24, but that storyline was dropped in episode 25 for... something else... At the end of the season, even though the main cast dies (this happens several times throughout the series), presumably nothing has changed. Jyushimatsu remains loud and obnoxious, still living at home with his loser brothers.

Personality: How does one even begin to describe Jyushimatsu? He is a riddle wrapped up in an enigma. By which I mean he is probably crazy. As the second-youngest of six brothers, he instantly stands out, with his bug-eyed stare and perpetual open-mouthed grin. He is almost always happy, exceedingly so, and he's been described as having his head up in the clouds. He is easily distracted, as evidenced by when he randomly stopped to talk to a homeless man when he was supposed to be walking home.

When it comes to the rest of his brothers, Jyushimatsu may be the most innocent of the bunch. I am not saying he's an angel, since he does collect ero magazines, and even strangled Ichimatsu because he was cold (Jyushimatsu hates the cold). He is easily the most immature, which makes him more childlike. He is the least likely sibling to judge his other brothers, and he has fairly good relationships with all of them. There is a segment where Karamatsu attempts to bribe Jyushimatsu with candy, and he accepts, presumably because OH MY GOSH IT'S CANDY I WILL DO WHATEVER YOU SAY FOR CANDY. Karamatsu bribes Jyushimatsu because he wants his younger brother to lie for him (he had a good reason to). But when confronted about the lie, Jyushimatsu does not know which brother to be loyal to, and his head literally explodes into a pachinko ball dispenser.

It is also known that Jyushimatsu waits up for Santa Claus every year, and has been doing this since he was a child. Though, nowadays, it seems like he just wants to catch Santa, presumably because he wants all the toys (but we just don't know...).

Adding to the childish qualities, Jyushimatsu is loud and hyper. It seems like all of his everyday activities are carried out in this fashion; he sleeps loudly, he eats loudly, he bathes loudly. In fact, one surefire way to tell that something is different or wrong with him is if he isn't acting noisy and obnoxious (despite being loud himself, he seems to strongly dislike loud noises, like when a lot of people are talking at once). Sometimes, if he gets worked up—usually about baseball—he needs Ichimatsu to calm him down, the way a dog-owner would calm down their pet. You think I'm joking.

Several other segments in the show pick out Jyushimatsu's randomness. Sometimes, he blurts out words, or tries various gags that may or may not tie in with what is going on around him. The interview story is a prime example of this. In that segment, Jyushimatsu goes from displaying his bare ass in public to growing extremely large, or making hyper realistic faces for no reason at all. There is also another segment where Jyushimatsu receives a serious phone call about his stocks. The scene lasts maybe 20 seconds, and is never touched on again in the series. Though, to be honest, a lot of the series is like that. Jyushimatsu just takes the randomness to the extreme.

All that being said, he does have moments of clarity. For one thing, Jyushimatsu appears to be able to understand his darker brother, Ichimatsu, who is lonely and depressed. Jyushimatsu is sincere in his efforts to make those around him happier, and will do silly things to get people to laugh. He is definitely no hidden genius, with deep meaningful layers (there is some talk that Jyushimatsu smiles/laughs so much because it is a mask to hide his pain, but this is only fan speculation. it should also be mentioned that some of his brothers think there might be a darkness in Jyushimatsu. I believe the only darkness is childlike, in the way a kid might pull off the wings/legs of an insect. on the rare occasions he gets violent, it is because he doesn't know any better). No, Jyushimatsu is fairly simple and sweet. He's also an idiot, just like the rest of the Matsuno brothers.
